The 24th Annual Mountain Area Earth Day Fair will be the feature event in a nearly month long Countdown To Earth Day celebration which will encompass a series of varying events and activities including in the festivities at the Lake House. This year’s themes of Earth, Water, Air and Spirit will tie all events around the heart of the matter: “ Our Earth Our Chance ”, our mountain communities’ new reoccurring event series to look forward to annually.
Join us at the 2013 Mountain Area Earth Day Fair from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, April 20 at the Evergreen Lake House, 29614 Upper Bear Creek Road. Free Shuttle Parking will be available at Evergreen High School, 29300 Buffalo Park Road. Admission will be free to all ages. Donations will be encouraged.
Growing since 1990 and now one of the largest and most popular Earth Day celebrations in Colorado, the fair regularly features over 50 federal, state, and local agencies, nonprofit organizations and businesses. Up-to-date information on critical issues will be available for open discussions and to take home. The festival’s traditional main hold, HawkQuest will again present its live raptors. Local high school students have taken on various planning and hosting tasks. Middle school groups are planning improvisational performances. The Café @ The Place will cater to everyone’s taste and together – organizers, exhibitors, caterer and guests – the entire event strives to achieve EAS+Y’s Gold level Zero Waste Certification .
While you are at Evergreen Lake be sure to visit the historic Boat House, home to the Evergreen Nature Center which is operated by Evergreen Audubon. The Nature Center‘s 2013 Season Opening Day will coincide with the fair’s festivities and offer numerous children’s activities.

Earth Day & Beyond is a small group of Mountain Area residents. The first Evergreen Earth Day Fair was held in 1990 at the Old Brick School and was the brainchild of Evergreen Naturalists Audubon Society member Carl Keiser along with community movers and shakers, Mary Dickhoff, Marian Phillips and Etta Satter. Through the years the Fair has grown in size and reputation, featuring environmental and community information. The Evergreen Park and Recreation District has sponsored the fair at the Evergreen Lake House for over a decade.
Our major sponsors are the Evergreen Park & Recreation District, the Evergreen Newspapers, the Evergreen Audubon, the Evergreen and Conifer Chambers of Commerce, the Mt. Evans Group of the Sierra Club.
